Zelda-like game in javascript

Posted by: Brian Chan | Filed in: fun | Tags: , | 01:39 pm, September 29th, 2010 No Comments »

This is a proof-of-concept ARPG game written in javascript. The game is actually quite smooth. You probably won’t notice any lag from it, just like playing in a simulator.

To play, your “Z” key is the A button, and your “X” key is the B button.

The first time I played on Easy I got my “game over” in like 10 mins… the second time 5 mins on Hard… more than anything I appreciate the js programmer making this possible! ;)

Free Rice

When I came across this site, I was stunned. In short, you play a vocabulary game to earn rice for donation to the poor. Here is their “How to Play” instructions:

1) Click on the answer that best defines the word.
2) If you get it right, you get a harder word. If wrong, you get an easier word.
3) For each word you get right, we donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations World Food Program.

This game can really test your vocabulary, and at the same time you get to donate rice. What an idea!
