Pwn2Own 2009: Safari/MacBook falls in seconds

In case you missed this, in a security conference called Pwn2Own 2009, Safari/MacBook falls in seconds. Here is the link: http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=2917

According to Miller the winner, “It took a couple of seconds. They clicked on the link and I took control of the machine.” He describes Safari as “easy pickin’s”.

I think at least for a while people should not flippantly say that macs are more secure than windows. But just to be fair, windows’ IE 8 also got broken into a little while afterward by another hacker.

Lesson learned, you have to know how to secure your system whether you are using mac or windows.

Lunascape 5 Genesis Beta released Feb. 10, 2009

Wow, this new browser Lunascape can render webpages with the three most popular web browser engines. Trident + Gecko + WebKit. For those of us wanting to test webpage layouts thus installing IE7, firefox, and Safari, now you only need one browser. It’s still in its beta version for now, but it looks quite good to me. In terms of features it pretty much has everything you can think of. And it scores 100 on the Acid3 test. It’s quite impressive.
